*hide_reuse *temp choicecount 0 NOW PLAYING AS: $!{player_first_name} It’s been a few weeks since you got into Dia. In that time, you’ve explored the city, gone out to eat more times that you can count and of course, continued to ready yourself for the Games. What have you been doing in the weeks leading up to the competition? *label beefingstats *if choicecount = 5 *goto_scene chp2_arrivalday *if choicecount = 4 You had time to do one last thing. *if choicecount = 3 What else did you do? *if choicecount = 2 What else did you do? *if choicecount = 1 What else did you do? *fake_choice #Absolutely nothing. Wow, you really did nothing for several weeks? *fake_choice #Well...actually..." *goto beefingstats #That's right. Not a dang thing. *set bold %-15 Good for you! Of course, you had meals delivered to your room and talked to $!{roommate_name} occasionally, but other than that, you were all alone. It's exactly the way you wanted it. *page_break *goto_scene chp2_arrivalday #I worked on getting fans and getting the public excited about me before the Games even started. *set fame %+10 *set charisma %+7 *set reputation %+7 *set choicecount + 1 If you weren't a networking pro before the Games, you certainly are now. You beefed up your social media accounts, with the help of Lyon and made yourself as visible as possible. Eventually, your efforts started to pay off as people began to recognize you. You're nowhere near celebrity status, but you've grown accustomed to having people stare when you go to the store or to grab a coffee. *page_break *goto beefingstats # I did a bit of volunteering in the community. *set reputation %+10 *set friendly %+7 *set polite %+7 *set choicecount + 1 There's no shortage of places and organizations to help out at in Dia. You spent quite a few afternoons picking up trash, visiting less desirable parts of town and hanging out with kids after school. It felt good to help out and the good attention definitely helped boost your image. You also have more free volunteer t-shirts than you know what to deal with. *page_break *goto beefingstats # I decided to read up on royal etiquette. Never hurts to learn more or get a refresher. *set polished %+10 *set smarts %+10 *set royalloyalty %+7 *set charisma %+7 *set choicecount + 1 Your roommate could only help so much, as you learned after a few days of asking ${roommate_him_her} about royal customs. *if (background = "guard") Sure, you knew quite a bit from guard life, but even the most senior guards forgot a few things every now and then. You somehow found your way back to Alvina's bookstore and left with more books on etiquette than you knew what to do with. As the weeks went on, you learned so much you thought that you could almost put the Royal Family to shame. *page_break *goto beefingstats # I wrote a lot to keep myself motivated about the Games. *set morale %+10 *set formal %-7 *set choicecount + 1 You were never really too much of a writer until the past few weeks. While $!{roommate_name} was out exploring the city, you were busy writing down your thoughts and feelings about the entire situation. You wrote about the Royals, any and everybody you met and even a poem or two. It helped to center your mind about everything for sure. *page_break *goto beefingstats #I went to quite a few happy hours at one of Cape Odessa’s bars to improve my people skills. *set charisma %+10 *set bold %+10 *set friendly %+7 *set reputation %+7 *set choicecount + 1 Dia had hundreds of bars and you made it your mission to step foot in almost all of them as often as you could. You joked around with regulars, took more shots than you care to admit and almost got a drink named after you. You weren't going to lie, you didn't think you'd be able to get rid of that thrilling feeling of everybody cheering your name the minute you stepped inside of a bar. *page_break *goto beefingstats #I took advantage of a temporary gym membership from the Crown and kicked and punched a lot of things. *set brawn %+10 *set bold %+7 *set snarky %+7 *set choicecount + 1 You spent quite a bit of your time inside of Get in Dia Zone, one of the best gyms in town, according to Kevin. There were a variety of body types using the equipment and plenty of helpful trainers in case you needed help. You used most of the equipment, but kept going back to the punching bags time and time again. As the weeks went on, you could feel yourself start to bulk up, even just a little bit. You were sure this would benefit you in the future. *page_break *goto beefingstats # I looked around for more contestants that I could meet, or talk to again. *set choicecount + 1 *set friendly %+10 *set reputation %+7 *set charisma %+7 Seeing as pretty much every single contestant lived on a different floor of the hotel, you thought it would be easy to find one to talk to. Not so. "King Frederick is forbidding face to face contact with contestants until Arrival Day, but you're welcome to chat via letter," Lyon informed you one day after you asked about meeting with your fellow participants. So, you composed letters for every contestant and allowed Kevin to leave them at their doors. You only got a few back, but the responses were enough to keep you busy. *page_break *goto beefingstats #I mainly stayed inside my hotel room, keeping $!{roommate_name} company. *set choicecount + 1 *set friendly %-10 *set bold %-7 *set formal %-7 *set roommate %+7 Sure, $!{roommate_name} did ${roommate_his_her} fair share of going out on the town, but there were plenty of periods of time where the two of you play games and talked just like the days before you two moved to Dia. It was a welcome relief, especially since you didn't know how often you'd get to be able to be alone once you moved to the Palace. *page_break *goto beefingstats # I took up meditation to keep myself calm about the upcoming Games. *set choicecount + 1 *set bold %-10 *set formal %-10 *set friendly %-7 *set morale %+7 You didn't have to go too far to get in touch with your meditative side. Cape Odessa had a very nice spa and inside of that spa, very knowledgeable yoga and meditation teachers. You learned a plethora of breathing techniques and other things you were sure would keep you sane both before, during and after the Games. *page_break *goto beefingstats # I made sure I was aware of the latest royal news, fashion and gossip. *set choicecount +1 *set formal %+10 *set polished %+7 *set charisma %+7 With $!{roommate_name} at your side, the task was super simple. $!{roommate_he_she} sent you every single royal website they knew about, including a few that ${roommate_he_she} was an admin of. It was a bit weird to see gossip about yourself on a few of the websites, but other than that, you read up on everything ranging from what new brand Mozelle was spotted in to what $!{royal_title} $!{royal_first_name} had to say about Odessa's bordering countries. *page_break *goto beefingstats #I spent way too much time online, clapping back at people who were spreading rumors about me...much to Lyon’s dismay. *set choicecount +1 *set snarky %+10 *set cunning %+10 *set bold %+7 Look, you couldn't help it, but when you accidentally stumbled across an article that painted a rather unflattering picture of your background, you just had to say something. Technically, you hadn't been given proper media training yet, so you figured you could just comment at a few people and leave it at that. Let's just say that Lyon cleared his schedule in record time to get both you and your accounts under control. Still, you clapped-back at a few individuals from time to time. You couldn't help the buzz it gave you. *page_break *goto beefingstats # I get in touch with nature and spend my time taking walks in nearby parks. *set royalloyalty %-10 *set bold %-7 *set morale %+7 *set choicecount +1 Dia is the perfect mix of concrete and greenery, you learned. Before dawn or before the sun set, you ventured away from the hotel to check out what nature had to offer. Turns out, they had much to offer. You visited as many parks as you could, admiring the trees that rivaled the high of skyscrapers and stopped and smelled more flowers than you could count. As the number of parks and green spaces you visited increased, you couldn't help but to feel like something or someone was watching you. You didn't feel particularly alarmed, but it was a bit strange to you that the feeling only occurred when you were busying yourself with nature. Eventually, you decided to just chalk it up to the sun or lack of sleep. *page_break *goto beefingstats # I accepted any interview with the press I can get. *set media %+10 *set fame %+7 *set friendly %+7 *set choicecount +1 Wherever there was a camera from somebody in the media, you were in front of it. You answered questions, smiled as much as you could and did pretty much everything you could to be on their radar. It got to the point that you even learned the names of most of the paparazzi in town. Lyon certainly wasn't complaining on his end either, telling you to keep up what you were doing if you wanted to keep being on the public's and the media's radar. *page_break *goto beefingstats
