*label delhuman_fcs In 3194, a Kothrani scholar named Fleis Dahhl discovered what was, and what remains, the closest comparison to immortality the Tasmaii Incorporate has ever known. Dahhl found a way permanently stall cell growth, and thus preempt cell death, while maintaining the cell's function and health. This meant that a being could effectively stop aging at any given point in it's life while continuing to learn, grow, and function as they always had. Cells would not need to replicate or regenerate, as they never degraded or mutated. The main detriment to Dahhl's discovery, which he termed Functional Cell Stasis, was that cells could not repair themselves if damaged, leading to permanent injury. This also meant that one could still die, and quite easily, if they came to physical harm. When the Delhuman people joined the Tasmaii Incorporate, Dahhl's FCS model was already well established, making Transition extremely difficult for Delhumankind. Prior to incorporation, Delhumans had lived very much the same way as their evolutionary predecessors, the Humans, seemingly existing merely to survive, procreate, and die. Beneath the surface, however, lay a complex set of priorities that varied from person to person, giving each individual a unique personality. The concept of possible eternal life proved to be exceptionally daunting to them, especially given that it stripped away many of the long-term goals that Delhumans were accustomed to making. Sixty percent of those diagnosed with Commencement Anxiety were identified as Delhuman, and suicide among the race climbed almost instantaneously. *page_break Even now, after the Absorption and Transition periods, many Delhumans continue to cling to the ideals and aspirations of those who came before, insisting that man will lead a richer and fuller life if he is aware of his own mortality. Recently, a new organization calling themselves The Church of the Linear Path has been founded with these principles in mind, prescribing that joy and fulfillment will be found only by living the Mortal Life, and shaping goals as though the average lifespan is that of the Humans, which was roughly 80-90 years in length. Reception to the Linear Path throughout the other Incorporated Races has been mixed, with some races staunchly opposing the Church, some embracing it, and some ignoring it all together. Most notably, the Kothrani reaction has been nothing short of hostile. The current Government face and Kothrani ambassador, Ni'ikk Taliri, has spoken out against the Linear Path, stating that it seeks to undermine the importance of FCS within the Tasmaii System, thereby threatening the very existence of the Incorporate. *page_break Back *goto_scene choicescript_stats reference *label known_elds *label scores Em-Sec Score Explanation Strength - Student is scored based on physical strength and ability.
